Construction of 100 Las Olas has officially begun. The project team celebrated the groundbreaking Thursday.
“We love real estate but most of all we love building relationships. That’s what we based our model on,” said Peggy Fucci, CEO of OneWorld Properties, 100 Las Olas’ exclusive sales and marketing agent.
“We couldn’t be more excited because we live and breathe Fort Lauderdale.”
Prices start at $800,000. “Her group has done a fantastic job for us,” said Kolter Urban President Bob Vail, noting the OneWorld team has done 1,200 broker presentations since mid-November.
Palm Beach-based developer Kolter Group, KAST Construction and SB Architects have partnered with the City of Fort Lauderdale to make the project happen.
“We had to come up with a project that was economically sound for us and that the city felt met the need of both the current residents’ interests and then satisfied a long-term vision of what this whole corridor wanted to be for generations to come,” Vail said.
As the tallest building in the city, 100 Las Olas will feature 121 luxury residences, a 238-room Hyatt Centric hotel, two restaurants, bars and exclusive amenities.
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler thanked Kolter for investing in the city. “This is going to create a lot of jobs,” he said. “I also want to thank you for working with our Riverwalk.
“This building is spectacular. … I admire the 499 feet but I love what you guys have done at the ground level. I love the design,” he said.
“The experience you get at ground street level is so important and as we try to create a livable, walkable, 24-7 downtown we accomplish that with this building.”
He says everyone will know 100 Las Olas is in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. “It’s a dynamite location in our downtown,” Seiler said.
James Hansen, Kolter Hospitality vice president of sales and marketing, said hotel guests will be able to explore all downtown has to offer.
“Our condominium residents will be able to experience all the benefits of having a hotel right at their doorstep. We’re going to have great dining, amazing state-of-the-art meeting and event space, great pool decks.”
It will be the seventh hotel in collaboration with Kolter and Hyatt, which awarded Kolter its most prestigious strategic partnership award last year.
The 46-level tower will be the 20th project Kolter and KAST Construction have partnered to build.
KAST Construction Mike Neal said the company will do everything possible to be good neighbors.
Condos are expected to be delivered to residents in fall 2019 and the hotel is slated to open in 2020.
He said the building will have 5.8 miles of piling under it, 168 million pounds of concrete and 2.5 acres of glass wrapping it.
